Bayview is a new place in the Colombian hostelling scene and is already becoming very popular.
The tranquil, happy atmosphere and dazzling range of services offered make it a great choice for travellers. The success story of this brightly coloured hostel can be contributed to the hospitable and customer focussed owners Santiago and Zayra, who designed and built this hostel from scratch in 2007. Prices are kept low and most services are free of charge.
The hostel has a steady 90% occupancy rate and reservations are advisable (but not essential), as tourists stick around to indulge in backpackers` hospitality at its finest.
Prices start at 20,000 Pesos for a dorm bed and 25,000 Pesos per person for a double or twin en-suite room. Triple rooms with private bathroom cost 20,000 Per person.
Breakfast is included in the price and there is free coffee and drinking water on offer throughout the day.
There is a fully equipped self-catering kitchen and a spacious BBQ area for those who want to cook and chilled drinks are on sale all day.
There is WI-FI internet available charges at 2,000 Per hour and international calls can be made from the hostel.
There are many relaxed social areas including outdoor hammock areas, two tv/dvd rooms and an information section where tours can be booked.
Other facilities include a laundry service (from 10,000 - 20,000 Pesos), luggage storage safety deposit box and lockers.
Bayview also offers free transportation twice a day to Santa Marta where guests can use the supermarket, ATM etc.

Airport (Santa Marta): Taxi costs 20.000 pesos (daytime) 25.000 pesos (at night) By bus, take a collectivo to the Santa Marta beach area for 1000 pesos, where you can get another collectivo to Taganga for another 1000 pesos. All Taganga-bound buses pass Bayview.
