Casa del Sol Naciente is a nice spot for those who want to get away for a couple of days and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. It is quite a way out of town uphill and on the edge of the canyon offering spectacular views of the sunrise.

Opened in 1985 by Clemencia Serpa, the hostel has been built over the years to include cabins overlooking the canyon, a spacious main building, a seperate cabin towards the town and plenty of space for camping.

There are also areas for bonfires, an outdoor shower and meals sometimes available on request.

This hostel sometimes accepts volunteer workers in exchange for accommodation.

Casa Del Sol Naciente has a maximum capacity of 35 people with prices from 12,000 - 15,000 Pesos in shared rooms and 20,000 Pesos for singles. Camping costs 5,000 Per person in the gardens and 6,000 per person on the edge of the canyon.

Breakfast and lunch can often be provided for individuals or small groups but evening meals are currently unavailable and there are no self-catering facilities.

There are indoor and outdoor social areas where guests can enjoy the quiet of the country and the beatiful gardens.

How 2 get there...

Casa Del Sol Naciente is quite a way from town, uphill along the dirt road from Carrera 13, taking a right at the fork and continuing a further 20 minutes past the football pitch on the left. Casa del Sol Naciente will also pay the cost of the taxi from the centre of San Agustin to the hostel.
