After leaving Colombia for ten years to live in the United States, Marco and Gloria decided to come back home and work for themselves. To put to good use what they learned from their travels throughout the world and from the experience they gained working in the hotel industry, they decided to open Casa Habitat.
This small hostel is situated in the quiet Calasanz area and is focused on backpackers who are looking for a friendly peaceful environment yet close to the metro, restaurants, cafes and some amazing food stands. Marco and Gloria both live on the 3rd floor of the house and are always around to assist with information about Medellin and the surrounding area.
Casa Habitat has 5 rooms with prices which vary depending on the number of people in each room. Please note that all rooms have a fan, fridge, cable TV and a private bathroom.
The rates for a bed in a 6 person dorm (women only) with a kitchenette is 20,000 Pesos per night. A single room is 34,000 Pesos per night. In the room with 4 beds with a kitchenette is 65,000 Pesos for 2 people, 85,000 Pesos for 3 people and 100,000 Pesos for 4 people.
Casa Habitat also offers a studio with 2 separate rooms, with 2 separate beds in each room. The Master room with kitchenette costs 70,000 Pesos for 2 people and the entire studio for 90,000 Pesos for 3 people and 105,000 Pesos for 4 people. If you just want to rent only the double room it costs 42,000 for one person and 60,000 for 2 people. Please call for group prices (5 or more people).
Free coffee is available in the morning and is roasted and ground in-house.
Local phone calls are free. There is also free a WiFi connection and free internet access on a public computer. If you need to make a fax or photocopies you can do it here for a small fee.
There is a laundry service that costs 7,000 Pesos per load.
Check in time is at 1:00pm and check out is at 12:00 noon which can be flexible depending on the hotels availability for that day. They provide luggage storage at no cost for guests.

From the José María Córdova International Airport you can take a taxi which costs about 50,000 Pesos. Another option would be to take a local bus to downtown costing about 5,000 Pesos and then catch a taxi that costs about 5,000 Pesos.
From the local Airport, Enrique Olaya Herrera, you can take a taxi to the El Pablado metro station for about 4,000 pesos and then take the metro to the Floresta metro station for about 1,500 Pesos and follow the direction from the Norte Bus Station below.
You can also reach the Casa Habitat Hotel for about 1,550 Pesos on the metro from outside the Terminal Norte Bus Station. Get on the metro and go to the Floresta Metro Station. Leave the exit that says Carrera 80, cross the street and take a left. You will be on Carrera 80. Walk two blocks and make a right on Carrera 81A. Walking on the left hand side of the street walk two more blocks and it is on the corner of the 3rd block on your left.
