Casa McGeorgie's now has two establishments both located in the ever popular La Candelaria district in Bogota's ´Centro Historico´. The two locations are owned and run by George from Puerto Rico who is friendly, welcoming and very experienced in the hospitality/tourism industry.
Having run the successful Casa McGeorge's with 5 private rooms he has now branched out and opened the second hostel which includes a restaurant that is proving popular with both tourists and local students due to it's good quality and reasonably priced menu.
George is happy to provide all sorts of tourist information and will gladly arrange local cycle tours and help with travel arrangements including airport pickups.
The new hostel opened in July 2011 and has an 8 bed dorm, a triple room and a double, all with shared bathrooms.
As well as the restaurant there is a computer room and beautiful rooftop conservatory as a social area. This is a bright and colourful area surrounded by flowering plants and lovely views of Monseratte and the La Candelaria.
The original hostel on Carrera 3 has been open since 2009 and has 5 private rooms. All with cable tv, wifi and a guest kitchen.
Both hostels are staffed by courteous locals willing to assist in any way they can and have a laid back and relaxed atmosphere.
Other services include a free cooked breakfast for all private rooms, a laundry service, travel info, bicycle hire and tours, Spanish classes and dance lessons. All guests receive 10% discount on food and drinks from the restaurant.
Prices start at 20,000 Pesos for a bed in the dorm or 24,000 Pesos if you´d like breakfast included. All private rooms include breakfast and cost 50,000 Pesos for one person and 75,000 for two people with private bathroom (25,000 Pesos for an additional person). Double rooms with shared bathroom cost 45,000 Pesos for a one person and 60,000 Pesos for two. A single room with shared bathroom costs 36,000 Pesos.
Discounts are available for stays of 3 nights or more.
