The Colibri Resort is a nice place to stay in Ilha Grande. The gardens are full of beautiful flowers and birds and makes for a very relaxing base.
The owner is from Sweden and the staff speak Swedish, English, Spanish and Portuguese.
The Colibri Resort lives up to it's name by the many hummingbirds (colibris) which frequent the area. The laid back atmosphere is perfect for those who want to take it easy, play games, read a book, or simply lay back in a hammock and enjoy the garden.
There are 14 rooms which accommodate from 2 to 6 people, all with private bathroom, air conditioning, a fan and a locker. The rooms are brightly decorated and some toiletries and towels are provided.
Prices start at R$40 per person during the low season and double during the high season. Discounts can be arranged for long stays.
A tasty breakfast buffet consisting of fruit, juices, tea, coffee, bread with cheese and ham and cakes, is included in the overnight price. Coffee and cakes are available for guests until 4pm.
On the veranda there is also a TV and DVD collection, a bar, a pool table, several games, a book exchange and a computer with internet access.
The helpful and friendly staff can provide lots of tourist information about Ilha Grande. There is also lots of reading material about the island's nature, activities and history. Tours including trekking and snorkel rental can be organized through the hostel.
