Having opened its doors in 2004, the Coco Loco is now one of the best backpacker hangouts in Canoa. Owned by an American/Mexican couple Elizabeth and Mao, the beach-front hostel offers most facilities one might expect from a surf hostel...and more.

With a small snacks restaurant & palm-fringed hammock garden, the Cocoloco is a communal friendly place that seems to have taken over from other, possibly quieter, hostels in Canoa. Don't be mistaken, we are still talking about quiet Canoa, location of the widest beach & one of the best left break surf waves in the country. The Coco Loco offers a variety of rooms including 4-bed dorms at $6 per bed, 4-bed dorm with private bathroom at $8 per bed, doubles with shared bathroom cost $15 or with private bathroom $18. It costs $25 for a private double room with a sea facing balcony. Please be aware that reservations cant be made for dorm beds, bookings work on a first come first served basis. All bookings should be made online or by email.

Hot showers are available 24 hours and rooms have orthopaedic mattresses. A communal kitchen is available for guests use.

Bar & Snacks restaurant serves great breakfasts including, eggs benedict, crepes, oatmeal, huge fruit salads and freshly baked homemade bread. At lunchtime there's a mexican food menu and in the evenings they serve specials from around the world including BBQ nights, curries, lasagna, thai food, and always a roast dinner on sundays!

Activies include Quiz nights, The Dollar Bar, nightly happy hour and drinks specials. Horseback tours, board and bike hire as well as surf lessons, book exchange, DVD library plus info, advice & booking on other attractions/activities in the area..

When you get off bus, head down to the beach, turn left and you'll find Coco Loco about two blocks further down.
