Hostel Manaus, Manaus, Brazil

Hostal Manaus is one of the biggest hostels in the Amazon. It is handily located in a large heritage listed house in downtown Manaus, with the sights, central park, markets and port of Manaus all within walking distance. The ceilings are high, the common areas are open and airy, there is plenty of space to relax and the place has a continual flow of backpackers. The hostel itself is owned by an Australian, Alex, who opened it back in 2006.

Alex has gradually been expanding into the house next door to cater for the increase of backpackers. This new area offers a great roof terrace for a relaxed drink with other travellers and future plans include further development of this area.

Hostel Manaus is a member of Hostelling International.
