Hotel Oriental is well known in Rurrenabaque as one of the nicest places to stay and is frequently recommended by its guests. Although the prices are slightly higher than other places in town, the price is more than justified considering the high standard of the rooms and facilities on offer.

Oriental was founded in 1995 by Pastor and Carmen Loza. The family hotel is owned and managed now by their son Ruben Loza Saravia who is also a local artist well known for his portraits. Guests and visitors can usually find Ruben in his art studio by the hotel reception where he is only too happy to answer questions or simply let you watch him at work.

The owners aim to maintain a peaceful atmosphere all year round, even when they are fully booked. Hotel Oriental is definitely not a party hostel, they prefer to be considered an oasis of calm.
The hotel consists of 16 rooms, varying in size from singles (70-80 Bs) and doubles (100-110 Bs) to triple and quad rooms. All rooms are spacious, clean and all have en-suite bathrooms with hot water showers.

The hotel offers a beautiful and well maintained garden complete with a particularly fecund star fruit tree and terrace area with hammocks and outdoor seating areas. Drinks and snacks can be bought at the little hotel shop.

The hotel reception is a friendly area where guests frequently mingle. Reception boasts a book exchange, safe, telephone, 24 hour manned service, cable television and information about the surrounding area. Rubens' art studio is also located here.

Services included in the overnight price include a continental breakfast, luggage storage (useful when heading off on the jungle and pampas tours) and garage. There is also a full time medical service thanks the the hotel's links with a local clinic although medical treatment is charged additionally.
How to get there...
Hotel Oriental can be found on the south side of the town square, Plaza Dos de Febrero. Taxis are rare in Rurrenabaque but the town is small and easily mapped by foot. Arrivals at the bus station can walk to Hotel Oriental in ten minutes by following Calle Avaroa south until they reach the plaza.
