This homely and comfortable hostel has reached that balance between sociable, friendly backpacker hangout and the relaxed, 'make yourself at home' feel. There is everything you could want facility-wise and although the accommodation is somewhat basic, it's the warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere that makes this a real travellers favourite in Medellín.

Set in a nice area, close to several supermarkets, restaurants and bars and only 10 minutes walk from the metro station Suramericana, this hostel makes a good Medellín base.

Owned by Colombian/Argentine team Miguel Velasquez and Sebastian Rojas, Palm Tree has been welcoming guests to Medellín since July 2001 and remains a top travellers choice thanks to it's great facilities and laid-back approach.
Palm Tree has 6 private rooms and 22 dorm beds available. Prices are 18,000 Pesos per person for dorm beds or 25,000 Pesos for single occupancy in a private room. Double rooms cost 34,000 Pesos.

There's a good self-catering kitchen with free coffee available all day and complimentary eggs and orange juice on offer every morning.

There's also free internet and WIFI connection available for guest use and a pay phone to make calls direct from the hostel.

Palm Tree has some great social areas including a small bar and a hammock strewn garden. There's also cable TV with a large DVD collection in the lounge area and a balcony upstairs.

All bathrooms are shared and have good, hot-water showers.

Every Friday there is a BBQ in the back garden for guests of the hostel.

Plenty of information is available on what to do locally and the staff will happily advise you on day trips, activities and tours from Medellín as well as hostels and places to visit all across the country.
How to get there...
From the metro stop Suramericana, exit the station and turn left onto Carrera 65. Follow this road until it meets the busy Av. Colombia and turn left. Continue up to Carrera 67 just past the Exito supermarket. Turn left again onto this and you'll find Palm Tree a few houses along on the right. Its an orange building and number 48D - 63
