This is a basic but comfortable place to stay right next to the museum and park entrance. Owned by a lovely elderly couple, guests can be sure of being well looked after in spotless rooms looking onto a flowering garden.
Carmelita the owner makes sure everyone who wants one gets a nice hot cup of coffee in the morning and is happy to chat into the evening about life in Tierradentro and what there is to see and do.
This is a lovely place to rest after trekking from site to site, listening to the sounds of the countryside and just across the road from shops selling fresh juices, snacks and souvenirs. There is also a restaurant nearby where guests can prebook their meals.
Facilities...
There are half a dozen bright and clean rooms set around the garden and all sharing bathrooms with unpredictable hot water. There is fresh coffee and orange juice available in the mornings and although Lucerna doesn't offer breakfast, there are a couple of places across the road that can provide a hearty breakfast.
Carmelita has lived in the Tierradentro area for all her life and so there are few better to ask about what to see and do in the area, bus times and other pieces of general information.
How 2 get there...
To get to Lucerna, get off the bus before it reaches San Andres de Pisimbala at the museum and park entrance. Just to the left of the museum, Lucerna can't be missed, it's the blue and white building.
