Pocitos is a hostel where you can relax in comfort in Montevideo. It is located in a pleasant and safe neigbourhood just a few blocks from the Pocitos beach and boardwalk but still close to all the amenities of the city-centre. Here you are only 5 minutes from the bus station and 10 minutes from the shopping precinct. Pocitos has a homely atmosphere coupled with excellent personal service from its attentive and welcoming staff.
Having met during an extensive trip in Europe the hostel’s owners decided to continue their travelling lifestyle back home. In December 2008 Martin and Nacho opened Pocitos in a beautiful old building that has been tastefully converted with bright and colourful rooms kept impeccably clean. Comfy sofas, good music and films, a sociable kitchen and spacious garden allow for sharing a maté and chatting to other visitors in laid-back Montevideo, or simply relaxing with a coffee and a book.
In the high season mixed or female 6 bed-dorms cost US$ 14, 4 bed dorms are US$ 16, twin and double rooms are US$18 or 20 on weekdays and weekends respectively. These prices include a good breakfast of breads, toast, jam, dulce de leche, fruit, cookies, cereals,tea and coffee.
There is a computer with a good internet connection for all guests and wifi for laptop users.
In addition there are spotless bathrooms shared between the rooms on the top and bottom floors, as well as lockers for all guests.
Pocitos has a fully equipped kitchen for all guests and a comfortable living room with cable tv and and a dvd player, as well as a good range of board games.
Free coffee is available 24 hours a day, and a selection of other drinks are for sale.
The large garden has a nice patio area and caters for asados at the weekends.
The hostel can also rent out bikes, towels and organise Spanish courses. Hostel staff will also accompany guests to their beloved Nacional’s football matches.
From the airport: take bus DM1 to Punta Carretas. Get off bus at J. Ellauri and 26 de Marzo. Walk to Bulevar España, turn right, walk one and a half blocks along Av. Sarmiento to the hostel on the right. A taxi should cost about US$ 15.
From the port: your best option is to take a taxi which should only cost about US$5.
