Posada El Gallo is a colonial house full of character which has been painstakingly restored to its former glory and more! Set around a shaded courtyard in Coro's charming 'Zona Colonial', French-Venezuelan family Eric, Nella and their son Ludovick have created the perfect, tranquil home here which they invite travellers to share. In the evenings, return to your own little oasis, filled with bird-song and a fresh breeze along the patio and enjoy a few relaxed days in beautiful surroundings appreciating the warm hospitality of the Migliore family .
Posada El Gallo opened in 1998 after two years of hard work transforming what was once practically ruins into a beautiful and welcoming posada. The family will happily share the photos and stories of their work with any interested travellers over a cup of coffee on the terrace.
Having re-built the posada with his own two hands, Eric has also tastefully added decoration with his own artwork and reminders of his travels over the years.
The posada has 8 beautifully decorated and comfortable rooms around the garden courtyard, all of which have electric fans.
The rooms accommodate between 1 and 5 people and cost from $6 to $16, double en-suite rooms for $15 and and doubles with shared bathroom cost $12. Triple rooms cost $15 and $20 without/with bathroom respectively. A quad room without bathroom sells at $20. Dorm beds are $6 and there are also hammocks available for those on tighter budgets or if you fancy sleeping under the stars!
There is a laundry area which is available for guest use, there is also a laundry service too which costs $4. Guests can feel free to hand wash and dry if they prefer.
The kitchen is available on request at quiet times as there is no restaurant here, however when groups are being catered for, there's often meals available.
From the bus terminal, a taxi will cost around US$2.50 although there are local buses which can take you to the centre.
Once in the centre, find Calle Federación which is opposite the cathedral on Plaza Bolivar and continue North to Posada El Gallo.

Casa El Gallo is a recent addition to Eric's on-going work. This Colonial house which he has also restored, is now an extension to Posada El Gallo offering a further 8 rooms with the added luxury of en-suite bathrooms. Beautifully decorated with mosaic-tiles, his own wooden sculptures, and locally crafted artwork, this is an enchanting house and a true personal expression.
Casa El Gallo first opened its doors to travellers In September 2006 after only 8 months of hard labour and careful attention to detail during the restoration. It is now a popular place amongst travellers and also welcomes long-stay guests.
Operated through the Posada el Gallo only a couple of blocks walk away, these comfortable, airy rooms offer extra peace and quiet during a relaxed stay. Self-catering facilities are available to everyone and the communal open-air patio is the perfect place to sit back, relax and chat to other travellers.
Guests always check in through Posada El Gallo on Calle Federación (see above) and are then re-directed to Casa El Gallo only two blocks away.
