Brought to you by backpackers, for backpackers!
Irish/Argentine Pudu Hostel opened in mid 2008 and is already attracting an international crowd of travellers. Enjoy the stunning panoramic view over the lake, drink home brewed beer from the bar or chill out in a hammock in the garden.
Happy and warm hearted Irish couple Emma and John, the friendly Argentine Leo and Bariloche’s most beautiful dog Mila welcome you to feel at home.
After travelling extensively, John and Emma didn't want to go back to their “normal” jobs and so started Pudu Hostel with Leo who had worked many years in hostels and was eager to start his own place too. Combining their ideas, they have created a peaceful and relaxed hostel for travellers right in the centre of Bariloche.
The house reflects the owners attention to detail with home-made wooden furniture which they built by hand and colourful artwork, much of which has been contributed by other travellers.
Space for 35 people is guaranteed in airy rooms and spacious dorms with huge windows all facing the lake. All rooms are kitted out with extra thick and comfy mattresses, sheets and blankets brought over from Chile.
The 4 and 6 bed dorms have their own bathroom and lockers and cost AR$ 35 per person. The double rooms with private bathrooms are AR$ 120. Breakfast is included with homemade seasoned marmalade as well as internet and the use of lockers.
At the small bar they serve draft beer, Belgian, Stout and Lager, from the local Microbrewery Manush at very reasonable prices.
The huge self-catering kitchen is fully equipped and the garden has a BBQ area perfect for the weekly Argentine Asados and Irish Roasts. PUDU also now organise a weekly curry night for guests.
There area several comfy social areas including outdoor hammocks, an area with indoor fireplace, a lounge area with a book exchange and TV with sports channels and DVDs to watch.
Lockers complete with power points are available so that guests can safely charge up their electrical appliances.
There is lots of tour information available and advice on what to do independently. There is an information folder with extra details on local attractions.
Laundry service costs AR$ 14 per load.
From the bus terminal: Take a bus into the center, walk along Salta Street up the hill and follow it for 5 minutes until you see the small house with the dragon painting on your right.
