Run by a friendly family in a colonial building with an airy patio, Santander Aleman is a small and simple guesthouse in the centre of San Gil.
Breakfasts are served in the hostel each morning eggs, and cost 3500 pesos for guests, 4000 pesos for non guests.
The guesthouse is linked to a craft shop where you can find handicrafts reflecting different areas of the Santanderean region.

The guesthouse has five rooms including a double, twin, triple and rooms with bunk beds. Bathroom facilities are shared, and one unique feature is the open air, outdoor shower with no ceiling, allowing you to shower in the sunshine, or moonlight if you choose. They have cable TV in the lounge area and several tables in a café style setting.
Beds in shared rooms cost 15,000 Pesos with double rooms coming in at 35,000 Pesos. Single rooms cost 20-25,000 Pesos depending on the season.
Additional facilities include a ping-pong table and darts, internet service with skype (2,000 Pesos p/h), book exchange and tour information. Spanish and Salsa classes are offered at the hostel as well as a spa service.
