Sunshine Hostel, Medellin, Colombia

Set in the heart of the Poblado district, Sunshine hostel combines a convenient location with a friendly and comfortable base to explore the city. The hostel is a convenient five minute walk from the Poblado metro station and supermarket.

Israeli owners Yaki Eisnel and Imri Melman opened the hostel in early 2009 into the increasingly competitive Medellin hostel market. They are keen to welcome you to Medellin and speak excellent Spanish and English as well as their native Hebrew. They have information on all the sights of the city and now offer day trips to places of interest outside of Medellin.

Facilities...

There are a selection of rooms including dorms, a double room and 2 family rooms with a private bathroom. The dorm beds are reasonably priced at 18,000 Pesos each. The double is 55,000 and the family rooms costs 65.000 Pesos for 2 people and 96,000 Pesos for 4 people.

The cozy hostel is a perfect place to escape form the mayhem of Medellin with it's two separate lounge areas. One boasts a TV and DVD player while the other offers a more social retreat with sofas, a hammock, table-tennis and a sound system ready to play your ipod or Mp3 player.

The hostel also has a fully equipped kitchen and dining area as well as ample lockers at the guests disposal.

There is free high speed internet available in the foyer with Skype-ready computers.

A swift laundry service is also available for 4,000 Pesos per kilo and drinks and snacks are on offer at reception 24 hours a day.

How 2 get there...

The south bus terminal is a mere 5 minute taxi ride or a 20 minute walk. The north terminal is further away and can be reached easily by metro. From the airport you will need to take a minibus service into the centre from where you can change onto the metro, heading toward Itagui until the Poblado stop where you will find the hostel a 5-10 minutes walk away.
