Green Pathways tours are operated from the office in front of Bigfoot hostel. They arrange small tour groups (max.6 people) and aim to visit remote and beautiful destinations while focusing on environmental and cultural sensitivity.

Catering to all backgrounds and budgets, Green Pathways should have something for everyone!.
Volcano Boarding
This tour is book able through Green Pathways although run directly through Bigfoot. After many years experience, Bigfoot offers a well-run and fun volcano boarding tour to Cerro Negro Volcano. The tour includes 4x4 transport, bi-lingual guides, safety suits, boarding equipment, personal speed record with our own speed gun and an ice cold Mojito upon return. Tours generally run Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat but often additional days too. Private tours can be arranged for groups of 4 or more. In the dry season tours are in the cooler afternoons and enjoy the sunset. In the rainy season tours are run during the day. Night-time volcano boarding is available during the full moon in the dry season. Price: $23 US per person
Pure Earth Projects
The Pure Earth Project is a non-profit organisation aiming to promote and educate local and international people on sustainable and environmentally friendly techniques and ideas. Visitors can get involved in many projects through Bigfoot including reforestation programs and organic farming initiatives. Bigfoot plans to plant 20,000 trees with 5 cordobas from every Mojito sold adding to funds raised. WWOOFing opportunities can also be arranged through the hostel.
Canyon Somoto & Miraflor Reserve
This 3 day/2 night tour comprises of a visit to the Canyon de Somoto, an organic coffee farm and a cigar factory as well as treks through lush cloud forest. Accommodation is provided in a bungalow on the edge of the forest and all transport, guiding and meals are also included. Tours run from December to March.
Whale watching/ Cosiquina volcano & Padre Ramos Estuary
This tour includes a 6 hour boat ride in the Golf de Fonseca to view whales (season permitting). It is a 3 day/2 night tour which also includes climbing the Cosiquina Volcano and visiting the Padre Ramos Estuary. Accommodation, meals, guiding and transport is included and tours run from January to March.
Hike Cerro Negro/ Laguna de Asosca/ Leon Viejo/ La Paz Centro
This full day tour leaves at 6.00am and returns at 6.00pm. It begins with climbing volcano Cerro Negro followed by a drive to Laguna De Asosca for lunch and a swim. In the afternoon groups visit the world heritage site of Leon Viejo returning to the hostel via La Paz Centro where you stop to eat traditional Nicaragua Quessilos.
Isla Juan Venado
This is an early morning tour to the Estuary nature reserve. With a five hour canoe trip, groups have the chance to see abundant bird life, crocodiles, turtles and learn about the unique biology of Mangroves. After the tour, lunch is served and there's the opportunity to combine this tour with an afternoon volcano boarding trip for a package price.
Other options
Private guiding and custom made tours can also be arranged through Green Pathways. Bookings can be made through Green Pathways for the Tica bus, Surf Lessons and packages in Las Penitas and other excursions through other agencies.
How to get there...
To get there from the north east corner of the central park, head east for two blocks and take a left for one and a half blocks.
