Tucked in between Colombia, Brazil and the Caribbean, Venezuela is a beautiful world of contrasts. To the north, pristine beaches, coral islands and traditional fishing villages can be found, while way inland, the wilderness of the Amazon basin begins.
On the whole, Venezuela is not especially geared for tourism. Independent travel can be challenging, as reliable information is not always easy to come by regarding transport and directions. This can certainly add to the adventure though, and the lack of tourist information and commercial development means that big parts of Venezuela remain relatively unexplored.
Of course there are pockets throughout the country where travellers flock to see the sights -and with good reason! Home to such magnificent natural attractions as the Angel Falls, the Rio Orinoco, Mt Roraima and the archipelago de Los Roques, this is a country rich in natural beauty waiting to be experienced.
