Opened in July of 2009, Waypoint hostel is owned by Diego, Alejandro and Franciso who all had some great experiences travelling around Colombia and decided to set this hostel up with all of the necessary amenities so that you too can comfortably go out and collect some of your own great experiences. The friendly staff or owners are more than happy to help point you in the right direction during your stay here in Medellin and beyond.
This backpacker-orientated hostel has an amazingly homelike feel and is ideally situated in the El Poblado area and in the extremely quiet neighbourhood of Aguacatala. Waypoint Hostel is only 3 blocks from the Aguacatala metro station, where you can access the whole city of Medellin.
Waypoint Hostel has a total of 5 spotless rooms which are used as either dorms or private rooms. The rates for a bed in a dorm is 22,000 pesos, a single room is 33,000 Pesos, a double 55,000 Pesos and a triple 66,000 Pesos.
There is free WiFi with access around the entire house and free computer-use on their two computers. There's also a TV room with a large selection of DVDS and comfy beanbag chairs.
Guests have free use of the self catering kitchen and barbeque facilities and drinks are available for sale in the hostel.
Free coffee is available throughout the day and all bathrooms have hot showers. There's also a pool to take a refreshing swim when the weather is nice and hammocks to relax in.
Laundry service costs 5,000 Pesos per kilo and lockers are available at all times for guest use.
Check in time is at 3pm and check out is at 11am.

For 1,500 pesos you can reach Waypoint hostel from the metro. Get off at the Aguacatala Metro Station and walk about 300 meters toward EAFIT University near Rio Medellin taking at right on Calle 10 Sur. Waypoint is the white house on the corner or Calle 10 Sur and Carrera 48B with the logo above the door, palm trees and a blue lamp. Make sure you write the address down and if there is any confusion just ask a passerby for directions.
If you are arriving from José María Córdova International Airport a taxi will cost approximately 48,000 pesos (45mins). A bus is another option leaving at certain times from the airport. The journey takes approximately 60 minutes to make it downtown costing about 5,000 pesos. From downtown you can then take a taxi directly to the hostel which is about 20 minutes and costing about 7,000 pesos.
From the local Airport Enrique Olaya Herrera you can take a taxi taking about 10 minutes and costing about 5,000 pesos.
